There's no questioning it will be a deep game - EA's proved that time and time again for years now, and there's no sign of letting up with 2002.
General options and additions in KK2002 call for the standard variety of legends from yesterday and today, including Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Felix Trinidad, career and create-a-player modes, commentary from Larry Michael and Max Kellerman, the ability to taunt opponents, the shot calling of good 'ol Mills Lane, ring announcements by Jimmy Lennon Jr., and much, much more.
By comparison, the sluggish controls of previous entries almost completely disallowed a series of combinations as your opponent would easily get a lick or two in between. This ties into the new "punch control" system (which should aid in the improved responsiveness of the controls), a new addition to the series that allows for countless combinations stacked one after another with lightning speed al a Mike Tyson's one sided mockery of Peter McNeely several years ago. The game will also incorporate new motion capture technology for hand animation and motion blending to further immerse gamers in the realism of the sport. And yes, that means he taunts you with utter disrespect too. The result? Muhammad Ali's virtual counterpart fights like he did back in the day. EA has taken mounds of gathered data on every boxer's tendencies, and infused them into each boxer in the game. More improvement will come in the form of artificial intelligence with input from boxing expert Bert Sugar.
